Istanbul Modern is offering free workshops, film screenings and guided tours for women on International Women's Day, 8 March. In the workshop for women, participants create a mural based on their personal experiences. The workshop focuses on exploring ways to visualize emotions and thoughts, and discovering the liberating elements of artistic expression. A film screening of Suffragette, which addresses women's struggle for voting rights in England, is also held exclusively for women.Works by female artists to be examined
The guided tour for women covers the work of 10 female artists producing in modern and contemporary art. The tour focuses on examining Aliye Berger's engravings, Semiha Berksoy's "Feast in Prison", Nilbar Güreş's "Undressing", Hale Tenger's "Strange Fruit", Handan Börütecene's "Bring Yourself to Me", Selma Gürbüz's "Faded Costume" and "Self-Portrait", İnci Eviner's "New Citizen I-II-III", Nil Yalter's "Headless Woman or Belly Dance", Fahrelnissa Zeid's "My Hell", and Nur Koçak's "Cahide's Story", which are featured in Istanbul Modern's collection exhibition "Artist and Time".
