GoGo Penguin

British experimental jazz trio GoGo Penguin, with their hypnotic songs, will perform on 21 April at Zorlu PSM Studio as part of the promotional tour for their album A Humdrum Star, set to be released in February! The Manchester-based trio, comprised of pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner, captures attention with their hypnotic melodies, deep bass lines and rhythmically varied compositions. While their music is generally defined as acoustic-electronic, they also draw heavily from rock, jazz, minimalism, film scores and glitchy electronics. Thanks to their music that appeals to the heart, mind and feet, the trio, who were selected as the album of the year at the prestigious Mercury Prize with their v2.0 album, signed with Blue Note Records in 2015 and released the album Man Made Object. GoGo Penguin, who also created the music for Godfrey Reggio's cult film Koyaanisqatsi, will release their new album A Humdrum Star on 9 February 2018.
