Yorglass Peace Children's Symphony Orchestra
Young Talents Deliver Musical Feast
Yorglass Peace Children's Symphony Orchestra is a model established to provide free music education to as many children as possible and to convey the message of peace through music. At the concert held in the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Centre Grand Concert Hall, children performing under the direction of world-renowned Conductor Howard Griffiths received great acclaim.
Can Çakmur, winner of the 2017-2018 International Piano Competition, delivered an impressive performance as the concert's soloist. More than a thousand music enthusiasts watched the concert with great enthusiasm.
Yorglass Peace Children's Orchestra, following the 'El Sistema' model established in Venezuela in 1975, provides music education opportunities for children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the Kadifekale, İkiçesmelik, Agora and Eşrefpasa districts.
Following the concert, Yorglass CEO Semavi Yorgancılar and Management Board Vice-Chair Gülfem Yorgancılar Perçin congratulated the orchestra, Conductor Griffiths and pianist Can Çakmur.
Yorglass CEO Semavi Yorgancılar stated that they place great importance on children and education matters, saying: "Today's children are our future, our tomorrow. We will continue the work of our orchestra and concerts in order to provide free music education to more children. When we saw the extremely successful performances our children displayed on stage under the guidance of their music teachers today, we felt great pride as the entire Yorglass Family."
Yorgancılar continued: "Through the Peace Children's Symphony Orchestra, our disadvantaged children converted the opportunity presented to them into an advantage, combining their talents with education. We have full confidence that they will produce very good projects in the coming times. We are very happy that we have brought such a project to life and are part of this family. We hope this project will inspire other institutions and companies."
The Peace Children's Orchestra, established in Izmir by opera artist Selmin Günöz to connect children from low-income families with music, has 150 children and 5 instructors.

Yorglass Peace Children's Orchestra project has shared the same stage with internationally renowned musicians such as Gülsin Onay, Ayla Caymaz, Borusan Quartet, Gürer Aykal and İdil Biret, who provided support for the project.
