  US jazz vocalist and songwriter Madeleine Peyroux is preparing to meet her fans at Zorlu PSM on 5 December as part of the Garanti Jazz Green programme. Get ready for an unforgettable evening with the songs performed in Peyroux's sometimes smoky interpretation, which is occasionally compared to Billie Holiday! Peyroux's interest in music dates back to her childhood. The old recordings that her parents, whom she describes as "hippies" and educators, played for her enabled the US singer to grow up immersed in music. Her mother's ukulele is recorded as the first instrument she learned to play. From her youth onwards, Madeleine Peyroux has harboured a great love for and says she was inspired by figures such as Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Patsy Cline, Édith Piaf, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Mercer, Charlie Chaplin, Serge Gainsbourg and Bob Dylan. In Paris, she meets a band that would change the course of her life. After spending time among street musicians in Paris at age 15, she takes an important step by joining the Riverboat Shufflers. She then joins The Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band, which leads to her performing at major jazz festivals in Europe, a period that continues for several years.
