Contemporary Dance Education at Akbank Sanat

Akbank Sanat is implementing a Contemporary Dance Program in the October 2019–May 2020 period, for which LOCART has prepared the artistic direction and program content. The program aims to contribute to the training of dance artists who master contemporary dance techniques, have experimented with different styles, and are active in their field. The instructor staff includes names such as Alper Marangoz, Bengi Sevim, Beril Şenöz, Evrim Akyay, Korhan Başaran and Tuğrul Savaşçı, who have worked with renowned choreographers from around the world. Tuğrul Savaşçı serves as the program coordinator. The program consists of two semesters: the 1st Semester between 7 October–18 January and the 2nd Semester between 3 February–16 May. Depending on the qualifications of candidates, the program will consist of 2 groups: Group I (Dance Artist Development) and Group II (Dance Artist Education). Dancers will also be able to participate in workshop activities combined with their instructors' own dance styles. Upon completion of the program, dancers will have the opportunity to perform on stage, representing the repertoire work that will continue throughout the program duration. The groups formed as a result of the selection and evaluation exam will conduct 4 classes per week, totaling 120 classes, including repertoire work. The minimum age limit for Group I is 17, the minimum age limit for Group II is 13, and the quota for each group is limited to 25 people.
