Aksa Doğalgaz Warns of Safety Risks in Balcony Enclosure Renovations

Aksa Doğalgaz warned that unskilled interventions in natural gas installations and flue systems during home renovations, which increase in spring months, can create serious safety risks. The company emphasized that sealing balconies and terraces with glass enclosures can leave boiler flue outlets in closed spaces, potentially causing carbon monoxide poisoning, and stressed that only certified companies should work on natural gas installations.

Aksa Doğalgaz noted that balcony sealing and space expansion work carried out in homes changes ventilation conditions in living areas where natural gas is used, and emphasized that such renovations must be planned in compliance with technical safety regulations.

Flues must extend to the outside environment
In a statement by Aksa Doğalgaz, it was noted that leaving boiler and heater flue outlets inside closed balconies or terraces poses a vital risk. While it was stated that gases exiting from flues can accumulate in closed spaces and lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, it was stressed that flue pipes must extend to the outside environment and connection points must be secured airtight.

The company also drew attention to the importance of having proper ventilation openings in closed areas following balcony or terrace sealing work.

Installation modifications may require redesign
Aksa Doğalgaz noted that operations such as sealing a balcony, combining living areas, or changing the use of spaces in areas where natural gas is used can affect the existing natural gas installation design. It was stated that following such modifications, internal installations must be re-evaluated by certified companies and project amendments must be made when necessary.

Reminding that unauthorized persons working on natural gas installations poses serious risks to both life and property safety, the company emphasized that all work must be carried out by authorized and certified companies.

Regular maintenance must not be neglected
Aksa Doğalgaz emphasized that regular maintenance of natural gas appliances is critical for safe use, and noted that through annual maintenance performed by authorized service centers, flue systems, connection points and appliance performance can be checked, allowing potential faults to be detected at an early stage.

It was stated that regular maintenance not only increases safety but also contributes to more efficient operation of appliances and energy savings.
