Akbank Sanat to Host WSCM
Akbank Sanat will host the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM), with this year's theme set as "Changing Horizons."
Akbank Sanat will host the events of the World Symposium on Choral Music (WSCM), the largest event of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
The event, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will bring together the world's finest choirs and expert speakers from the United States to Spain, Taiwan to Canada between 25-30 April.
The symposium, which will see more than 50 speakers representing five continents from 28 different countries and more than 1,000 artists in Istanbul, will feature a diverse program of presentations in Turkish and English, presentations with choirs and workshops.
Within the scope of the symposium, Conducting Masterclasses with Ragnar Rasmussen at Akbank Sanat will serve as a platform where participants can develop themselves in the field of conducting. This masterclass, focusing on conducting techniques, is open to conductors from around the world.
Eight participants will be selected to work with Ragnar Rasmussen, and the work will conclude with a Masterclass Concert. Throughout the symposium, Akbank Sanat will also host programs featuring speakers on various topics in culture and the arts.
Within the scope of the event, the paths of the world's finest choirs will cross in Istanbul. The symposium presents a select program with the unifying effect of music, where cultures embrace and civilizations meet, featuring 11 choirs specially invited from abroad and more than 30 choirs from Turkey.
A total of 44 concerts will be held in 11 different venues, including the Atatürk Cultural Center, and ranging from Galata Mevlevihane to St. Antuan Church.
