Akbank 36th Contemporary Artists Award Exhibition

The Akbank Contemporary Artists Award was presented to artists as a result of a competition organized in cooperation with the Painting and Sculpture Museums Association and Akbank Art, with the aim of supporting developments in contemporary art and assisting young artists. Eighteen works selected from applications evaluated by the jury are being presented to art enthusiasts at an exhibition held between 28 June – 28 July 2018. The "Contemporary Artists Exhibition," which has contributed to the formation of contemporary art in Turkey for over 30 years, has once again evaluated applications from young artists with its new structure and selected those who will participate in the exhibition. The exhibition, as every year, reflects the level of art in Turkey this year as well.The Contemporary Artists Exhibition serves a dual function. These exhibitions, in which almost all artists who have had a say in Turkey's art world and have even found the opportunity to open up to the world have participated, emphasize the point contemporary art has reached and give its pioneering signs on the one hand, while on the other hand offering young people who have not yet gained the opportunity to express themselves a chance to make themselves heard and to introduce themselves. The 2018 exhibition will continue to fulfill both levels of its function.
