According to Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data, the chemical sector, which exported USD 2.3 billion in June, achieved first-half exports of approximately USD 15.8 billion with an 8 percent increase. The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) released export data. According to the figures, Turkey's exports in June were USD 18.6 billion, representing a 10.6 percent decline compared to the same period last year. The chemical sector's six-month exports reached USD 15.8 billion with approximately 8 percent growth. In June, the chemical sector achieved USD 2.3 billion in exports and maintained its position as the second-largest exporting sector in June. Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB), commented on the chemical sector's June export figures. Pelister stated: "As the chemical sector, we achieved USD 2.3 billion in exports of chemical substances and products in June. Due to the Sacrifice Festival holiday, we experienced a decline in working days, which affected both general and sector exports. On the other hand, disruptions in global supply chains and increases in production and logistics costs are affecting our export performance. While the chemical sector's exports declined by 6.5 percent in June, when viewed on a six-month basis we recorded growth of approximately 8 percent. Our sector, which achieved a 12 percent share of country exports in June, maintained its second position among the highest-exporting sectors. Our January-June exports exceeded USD 15 billion, reaching USD 15.8 billion," Pelister said. Emphasizing the importance of the chemical sector, Pelister noted: "We see the importance of the chemical sector when we look at the top 10 most powerful states globally. Our chemical sector, which has strategic importance for our country's growth and economic development, ranks among the top positions both among Turkey's 500 largest industrial enterprises and the top 1,000 exporters. As İKMİB, we support our companies for the development and stable growth of our sector, carefully consider their suggestions and help resolve their problems. As İKMİB, we will continue to work with all our strength to help our exporters overcome the difficulties they face," Pelister said.
Plastics and products sector ranked first
