Lohmann Presents Adhesive Solutions for Applications on Leather
In recent years and during the global pandemic, demand for skin-adhesive applications in the medical industry has risen significantly. For example, the need for reliable bonding solutions for these devices in diagnostics, monitoring, and consumer health has also increased. Since sensitive and stressed skin (children, athletes, elderly) particularly demands sensitive and flexible products, Lohmann designed and launched a new adhesive bonding solutions portfolio. These products offer high breathability, water resistance, as well as removal without residue and painless removal.
With extremely challenging requirements for long-term skin adhesion, permanent changes and fluctuating external influences, low surface energy, rough textures or perspiration, Lohmann wearable adhesive solutions are designed and adapted according to the medical industry's applications and design requirements.
Whether applied to mobile cardiac telemetry (MCT), continuous glucose or temperature monitoring (CGM and CTM), insulin patch pumps or large-volume injectors for short or long-term use, each bonding solution—whether single or double-sided—is biocompatible and allows for increasingly thinner and more flexible wearable devices. This can provide patients with a higher level of comfort and mobility.
The Lohmann product portfolio supports the connectivity properties of wearable devices through electrical conductivity to measure symptoms via (remote) monitoring devices and thereby predict and prevent future acute attacks.
With remote monitoring and possible recovery at home, patients become stakeholders in their own health journeys, while healthcare system costs affected by nursing shortages and shrinking budgets are also significantly reduced. This is becoming an increasingly important topic in an aging population and where chronic diseases are on the rise.
Meeting the needs of the medical and healthcare industry, Lohmann provides in-house state-of-the-art capabilities including adhesive formulation, coating, casting and extrusion as well as cleanroom conversion, laboratories and testing, and die-cutting. The Neuwied-based adhesive technology specialist is certified according to EN ISO 13485.
