Çimko to Make a $200 Million Integrated Cement Plant Investment in Aleppo
Çimko, operating under SANKO Holding, is preparing to carry out an integrated cement plant investment of approximately $200 million in the city of Aleppo, Syria. Within the scope of the project, which will be implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer model, a facility with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons of clinker and 2 million tons of cement is planned to be established.

The facility, planned to be built in the Al-Muslimiyah area within the industrial zone north of Aleppo, is aimed at meeting the region's cement needs through local production and contributing to Syria's reconstruction process. The project is expected to create approximately 200 direct jobs.

Protocol Signed for the Project
The protocol regarding Çimko's Aleppo investment was signed at a signing ceremony held in Aleppo on October 1, 2026, by SANKO Holding and Çimko Chairman of the Board of Directors Adil Sani Konukoğlu and OMRAN (Syrian Company for Cement and Building Materials Production and Marketing) General Manager Mahmud Fadile.

The ceremony was also attended by Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Muhammed Nidal eş-Şaar, Syrian Ambassador Dr. Nuh Yılmaz, Syrian Investment Authority Aleppo Head Eng. Mohammad Hazim Lutfi, and Aleppo Governor Azzam El-Garib.

Within the scope of the project, which is planned to be carried out in two phases, a fully integrated cement production facility is planned to be established in the Al-Muslimiyah region, which stands out for its proximity to raw material quarries and main transportation corridors.

"It Will Be an Important Step in Regional Cooperation"
SANKO Holding and Çimko Chairman of the Board of Directors Adil Sani Konukoğlu stated that the investment is important in terms of SANKO Holding's regional development and long-term growth approach.

Konukoğlu said, "As SANKO Holding, in all the sectors we operate in, we aim not only to establish production facilities but also to add permanent value to the economic and social development of the geographies we are in. The Integrated Cement Plant that we will bring to life with Çimko in Aleppo is an important step in that it will be the first Turkish-origin integrated cement plant investment in Syria in the new era."

Stating that they aim for the approximately $200 million investment to contribute to Syria's infrastructure and reconstruction needs, Konukoğlu said that the facility will contribute to the development of regional cooperation with its modern industrial infrastructure.

Konukoğlu also stated that they aim to provide approximately 200 direct jobs with the facility, adding that it will also contribute to the development of local human resources.

Revitalization of Syria's Industrial Infrastructure Targeted
Speaking at the ceremony, Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Muhammed Nidal eş-Şaar thanked Türkiye, SANKO Holding, and Çimko for the investment.
