A Showcase Project to Support Sustainable Textiles Launches

Men's fashion brand Altınyıldız Classics has launched the Showcase Project with university students to support sustainable textiles. The first phase of the project, which includes undergraduate, graduate, master's and SEM certificate program students from Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi, will see students design year-end window displays using sustainable materials from the company's inventory. In a written statement from the company, it was announced that the firm has decided to conduct the recycling contribution process more comprehensively by sorting all waste fabrics according to color and content and transforming them into yarn at the Haksa conversion facility in Uşak, which holds OEKO-TEX^® Standard 100 and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifications. Having previously transformed 1.2 million PET bottles into fabric using 13 tons of recycled fiber, Altınyıldız Classics aims to create a capsule collection from recycled fabrics through the new project. The company will continue its cooperation with the conversion center and will also carry out product collection at stores, periodically sorting and retransforming products collected from stores at the Uşak Conversion Facility.

Workshops Begin 23 June

Students participating in workshops to be held on 23-30 June and 3 July will receive instruction from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel Onat Hattap, Assoc. Support Scholarships to be Awarded

Students participating in the workshops will receive support scholarships, and they will be asked to design year-end window displays using sustainable materials, fabrics, boxes, plastic bags, plastics and other recyclable waste materials. Selected designs will be displayed in Altınyıldız Classics store windows in three major cities during the year-end period. All students participating in the workshop will receive gift vouchers, while students whose designs are selected for window display will also receive cash prizes.
