Stars of Ready-to-Wear Exports Awarded

Apparel Export Stars Honored The Aegean Ready-made Garment and Confection Exporters Association held an awards ceremony for "2021 Apparel and Confection Export Stars" honoring 77 members who contributed 77 percent to the association's USD 1.5 billion in exports achieved in 2021. Aegean Ready-made Garment and Confection Exporters Association Chairman Burak Sertbaş, noting that while 69 companies received awards last year, 77 companies are being honored this year, reminded attendees of the exporters' union elections to be held in April. Sertbaş stated, "Our association's General Assembly will be held on 7 April. We will also hold the finals of our 16th Fashion Design Competition on 23 March, with the theme centered on the concept of 'contact-less,' which is at the heart of global transformation. For transformation in apparel, sustainability, digitalization and education are at the top of our agenda."

"Our two sectors generate 14 percent of Turkey's total exports"

Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi said the apparel and textile sectors achieved total exports of USD 30.4 billion in 2021 with a 24 percent increase nationwide. Eskinazi stated, "From the Aegean Region, we had USD 1.8 billion in exports in 2021 with a 21 percent increase. For export stars to grow further, to increase employment, and to exceed USD 2 billion in exports from our region in these two sectors in 2022, our exporters need to be supported."
