Fetih Tekstil Receives International Renewable Energy Certificate

As sustainability gains importance worldwide day by day, "renewable energy sources" are coming to the fore in the energy sector. Fetih Tekstil applied to CK Enerji to transition to clean energy use. The company certified its energy consumption with an international renewable energy certificate (I-REC). CK Enerji Commercial Sales and Pricing Manager Gürkan Sarıgül stated: "With this step, Fetih Tekstil has gained an important advantage in trade and cooperation with developed countries. Companies that commit to using electricity produced from renewable energy sources increase their export opportunities to developed countries and have access to easier and lower-cost credit from international financial institutions. As CK Enerji, we support companies' environmental sustainability policies by providing internationally recognized I-REC certificates to consumers." Fetih Tekstil Corporate and Sustainable Supply Chain Manager Tahire Akgündoğdu said: "As Fetih Tekstil, in line with our corporate and supply chain sustainability objectives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals comprising 17 targets, we have taken an important step in terms of affordable and clean energy. Renewable Energy Certificates are a system frequently used in developed countries to promote renewable energy investments and consumption. Through this system, which ensures that every unit of electricity produced is tracked from its source and traced to the final consumer, consumers are enabled to make conscious and reliable choices. I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), developed by RECs International, refers to an international certification system that certifies electricity is produced from renewable energy sources. One certificate is created for every 1 MWh of electricity produced at renewable energy facilities such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass. To own I-REC certificates, production facilities that meet certain requirements register in the database created by I-REC and obtain renewable energy certificates corresponding to their production, while electricity generation or sales companies can also have the right to sell these certificates separately from electricity.
