Zorlu Enerji to Own Electricity Generation Facility with Storage

Zorlu Energy, which generates 100% of its electricity production in Turkey from renewable energy sources, will have its first storage-based power generation facility through the Yeniçiftlik Wind Farm it will build in Tekirdağ and the Hamitabat Wind Farm it will build in Kırklareli.
As a result of the investments it will make with these preliminary licenses, it will have a total of 375 MWe of storage-based wind power capacity.
Energy storage systems, which will play a leading role in the energy world of the future, will store excess energy generated during high production periods and release it during periods of lower production, supporting the balancing of supply and demand. This will ensure more consistent and reliable power supply in the long term, supporting the most efficient use of renewable sources and balancing energy supply and demand.

Zorlu Energy's General Manager responsible for Investments, Operations and Maintenance, Ali Kındap, made the following assessment on the matter;
"We continue our work uninterruptedly to further increase the share of the renewable energy portfolio we currently have and to improve resource diversification.
Through the Storage-Based Wind Energy Power Plants to be established, we aim to benefit maximally from renewable energy sources and strengthen the lane on which our country is progressing toward energy efficiency.
We are aware that the storage systems to be implemented will also make a very important contribution to the development of battery technologies. At the same time, we are taking another important step in the fight against the climate crisis and for a sustainable future.
When our storage-based wind energy power plants are completed, they will prevent 532,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to the CO2 offset by 24 million trees annually. With the energy we will obtain from our two plants, we will be able to supply electricity to more than 328,000 households annually from more renewable sources."
