Providing information about the work they have conducted on agricultural irrigation pipes, Yıldırım said, "As Yılbor Plastik Boru, we place great importance on durability in our agricultural irrigation products. We believe the agricultural sector will become much stronger in the coming periods and agriculture-based economies worldwide will develop further. Providing information also about drip irrigation pipes increasingly used in agricultural areas, Yıldırım said, "The basic principle in drip irrigation is to apply irrigation at frequent intervals and in small quantities each time. Irrigation is started at high soil moisture levels. This way, no stress is created in the cultivated plant from soil moisture deficiency. Only water is supplied to an environment that will ensure adequate development of plant roots. In this method, generally the plant's daily or several-day water requirement is met. Irrigation water taken from the source is filtered in the filtration unit to remove sand, sediment, floating objects and very fine particles.
When necessary, plant nutrients are mixed into irrigation water through a fertilizer injection unit. Additionally, system flow rate and system pressure are monitored. Irrigation water is conveyed through a pressurized pipe network to drippers placed near plants. Water applied as drops on the soil surface under low pressure and low flow rate enters the soil from there through infiltration, is distributed by the effect of gravity and capillary forces, and wets the soil volume where plant capillary roots develop.
Generally, a wet strip is obtained along plant rows and a dry unmoisturized area remains between rows. With good design and application, deep percolation or surface runoff does not occur. Thus, available water resources are utilized effectively.
