University-Industry Collaboration in Green Transition Yıldız Demir Çelik and Kocaeli University have signed a Cooperation Protocol that will take 'industry-university' collaboration to the next level. Through the Protocol, Yıldız Demir Çelik and Kocaeli University's academic staff and students will develop joint R&D projects, particularly in sustainability and green transition. Yıldız Demir Çelik, one of the youngest and most dynamic players in Turkey's steel sector, and Kocaeli University, one of the most prominent representatives of the academic world, have launched a study that will serve as an example in university-industry collaboration. The Cooperation Protocol between the two institutions was signed on 19 April by Hakkı Yıldız, Board Member of Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding, and Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü, Rector of Kocaeli University. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hakkı Yıldız, Board Member of Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding, said: "Kocaeli, one of our country's largest industrial centres, is setting an example with exemplary studies on university-industry collaboration. As a company, we have significant partnerships with various academic institutions, particularly Kocaeli University. Ensuring that our young people, who are our future, receive an even better education and supporting our industry in developing new projects and products together with the academic world is of great importance for our country to achieve its goals. As a global company aware that the future lies in technology, production and industry, we continue to invest in our country's future and our young people together with Kocaeli University. I believe that with the Cooperation Protocol that will take our activities to the next level, exemplary projects will emerge through the synergy of both our company's R&D teams and the university's valuable academics and students." Kocaeli University Rector Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü emphasized the importance of the private sector's role in preparing young people for working life and continued as follows: "Through this protocol we have signed with Yıldız Demir Çelik, our students will get to know the business life they will enter shortly and through university-industry collaboration, we will be able to focus more on our research and development activities. When industry and universities combine their strengths through the coming together of our students, our academics and the trained personnel of companies, much more value-added products and solutions will emerge. Sustainability and green transition will form the basis of the collaboration
