Renewable Energy Summit to be Held in Izmir The renewable energy summit will be hosted by Aegean Exporters Associations in Izmir, the sector's capital. The "Renewable Energy and Sustainability Summit" will bring together all stakeholders in the renewable energy sector on 15 June 2022 Wednesday at the Aegean Exporters Associations Conference Hall. Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi stated that global energy demand is increasing every day and that meeting this need from renewable energy sources compatible with the environment is vitally important for the world. Eskinazi, noting that "ensuring reliable and low-cost energy in a growing economy in an environmentally sustainable manner has become indispensable in terms of energy policies," said: "Izmir is positioned at the centre of Turkey in terms of production of renewable energy sources and equipment. Looking at the overall picture, the share of energy obtained from renewable sources in electricity generation in Turkey has exceeded 20 percent. Our goal is to increase this ratio above 50 percent." Emphasizing that Izmir is also positioned as a renewable energy centre due to the advantages provided by the high potential it possesses in terms of wind, geothermal, biomass and solar energy and its geographical location, Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi also added that Turkey's renewable energy equipment exports are increasing rapidly and that they are working to establish the Renewable Energy Equipment Exporters Association based in Izmir in this sector. The "Renewable Energy and Sustainability Summit" will be moderated by Journalist Banu Şen, with opening remarks from Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources General Directorate of Energy Affairs Dr. Ömer Erdem, and Grand National Assembly Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technologies Commission Chairman Ziya Altunyaldız. In the first session of the "Renewable Energy and Sustainability Summit," moderated by Journalist Murat Gülderen, speakers will include ENSİA Chairman Alper Kalaycı, GENSED Chairman Halil Demirdağ, TPI Kompozit EMEA CFO Özgür Soysal and GENSED Vice Chairman Tolga Murat Özdemir. In the second session, Biyogazder Chairman Altan Denizsel, Teksis Advanced Technologies General Manager Hüseyin Devrim and JESDER Chairman Ufuk Şentürk will be speakers, with Journalist Bilal Emin Turan as moderator.
