The Importance of Turning to Renewable Energy Sources Polisan Holding Chairman of the Board Mehmet Emin Bitlis issued a statement on the occasion of 22 June World Renewable Energy Day. In the statement, which drew attention to combating climate change and energy supply security, he said: "Turning to renewable energy sources can be the solution to many problems we face. We must act together to realize this major green transformation, starting with energy. The strategy to be implemented here must be comprehensive, encouraging and incentivizing." In the statement, it was noted that Polisan Holding is a member of the CDP Climate Change and Water Security programmes and has raised its performance rating to "B-" level, with 33 Turkish companies globally holding this rating. Mehmet Emin Bitlis stated in the statement that this number should increase and made the following assessments: "In our production facilities, we meet 50% of our electricity consumption from renewable sources and have increased our carbon emission intensity reduction rate to 53%. By 2025, we want to offset our emissions through the use of renewable energy sources." A statement was issued by Polisan Holding, which has added value to the Turkish economy for 58 years and has pioneered many firsts in the chemicals, paints and coatings, and port management sectors in which it operates, on the occasion of 22 June World Renewable Energy Day. Polisan Holding Chairman of the Board Mehmet Emin Bitlis signed a statement noting that increasing carbon emissions in the atmosphere combine with other greenhouse gases to cause climate change, which brings about many destructive natural events. In a statement emphasizing the strategic importance of turning to renewable energy sources in fighting climate change caused by carbon emissions, the following expressions were included: "According to reports prepared by the United Nations, climate change has accelerated, spread and intensified. We now see the destructive effects of climate change everywhere in the world. Loss of life, material damages exceeding hundreds of billions of dollars, and disappearing agricultural land show us that if we are not engaged in a total mobilization effort, the situation will take a turn for the worse."
Reduced Carbon Emission Intensity Using Renewable Energy
The statement included information on Polisan Holding's work in climate change and water security, stating the following: "Since 2017, we have been part of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). As a result of our efforts, we have raised our performance rating in the CDP Climate Change and Water Security programmes to "B-" level and became one of 33 Turkish companies globally holding this rating. In our production facilities, operations, offices and general headquarters building, we meet 50% of our electricity consumption from renewable energy sources. In addition, through our integrated climate-friendly approach and thanks to our investments and operational efficiency projects, we aim to reduce our emissions. As a result, we have increased our Scope I-II carbon emission intensity reduction rate, adjusted for production and capacity fluctuations, to 53%. By 2025, we want to offset our Scope II emissions through the use of renewable energy sources. We want to realize this major transformation together with all our industrialists. Production facilities alone are not enough; a green transformation based on clean energy is necessary in residences, shops, public enterprises and farms. Through total mobilization, we will not only overcome the existential crisis into which the world has fallen, but also ensure energy supply security. Additionally, we will achieve cost stabilization."
The Solution Can Be Renewable Energy
In a statement signed by Mehmet Emin Bitlis, which emphasized the strategic importance of renewable resource use for combating climate change, energy supply security and cost stabilization, it was noted that investment and technological transformation must be rapidly incorporated into the plan to reduce emissions.
