Efficient Feed Solution
Efficient Feeding Solution \ Coperion K-Tron Introduces New ProRate PLUS Feeding Systems
With 100 years of experience in feeding systems, Coperion K-Tron has developed a robust and reliable new feeder product line that meets market needs in the plastics industry.
The ProRate PLUS gravimetric feeding line, an economical solution, offers good price-performance impact and quick delivery times, providing a solid return on investment. Designed with the specific requirements of the plastic processing industry in mind, these single-screw feeders are ideal for feeding pellets, granules and other free-flowing solid materials in secondary plastic applications. Three different models of ProRate PLUS feeders are available and, depending on the formulation recipe, can be used as single units or easily configured and operated as groups of up to six feeders at a single inlet center.

The ProRate PLUS feeding line features a unique design that permits a highly compact and space-saving arrangement. The special chassis design of ProRate PLUS feeders allows up to six feeders to be easily grouped around an extruder (or different process machine) inlet within a 1.5 metre [5 ft] radius. The three feeder models PLUS-S, PLUS-M and PLUS-L meet a wide range of capacity requirements. ProRate PLUS feeders easily meet capacity demands ranging from 3.3 to 4800 dm³/h [0.12 to 400 ft³/h] depending on the material. Theoretically, a feeding system containing six ProRate PLUS-L feeders can deliver up to 28.8 m³/h [1017 ft³/s] in only 7 m² [75 ft²] of footprint area.
ProRate feeders are standardized to the highest degree and feature variable design characteristics to optimize performance and ease of use. Thanks to the patent-pending rail system called "ProClean Rail", easy access for cleaning and maintenance of each unit is provided even within a group. "ProClean Rail" enables the main unit to be pulled back behind the feeder and rotated to access the feeding section and screw element.
This allows maintenance and cleaning of the feeding unit without changing the feeder's position. Additionally, bellows and screw utilize newly developed magnet technology for simple yet robust assembly. Magnetic connections allow tool-free removal of these parts while providing the holding force required for optimal and safe operation. Due to the high level of standardization of the feeders, the number of spare parts required for emergency stock is very small. Most parts are the same for all three models and are interchangeable for all devices.
ProRate PLUS feeders are suitable for use in hazardous areas classified as NEC Class II, Division 2, Groups F & G and ATEX 3D/3D (external/internal). This feature is standard on all models.

Accurate weight measurement and reliable control modules for efficient operation
All ProRate PLUS feeders feature P-SFT load cells containing reliable Smart Force Transducer weighing technology. Operating easily under pressure, they provide accurate, stable and reliable digital weight measurement under a wide variety of operating conditions. Load cells provide direct digital weighing signals and the built-in microcontroller guarantees excellent repeatability and stability. P-SFT load cells are highly tolerant to vibration and electrical noise. Integrated high and low load protection included. Each feeder comes equipped with the ProRate PLUS PCM control module with all connections pre-configured. The PCM is mounted to the feeder chassis with adjustable height positioning. Each PCM is pre-tested at the Coperion K-Tron manufacturing facility before shipment. Two PCM models are available to choose from: a simple motor control unit (PCM-MD) or an advanced version with integrated user interface and line control functions (PCM-KD). In a group of eight feeders, one feeder must contain a PCM-KD and the PCM-MD is sufficient for the others. The PCM-KD comes with all the software the ProRate PLUS feeders will need for permanent applications and supports all three different feeder models. The connection between the weigh feeders, operator interface and smart I/O is provided via an industrial network. All motor controls, diagnostics and operator interface functions are integrated in the PCM-KD user interface. The PCM-KD includes a host connection port (Ethernet IP or Profinet).Various services available to ensure smooth operation of processes
