UNIPOL® PP Capacity Expanding
Grace and Oriental Energy Expand UNIPOL® PP Technology Capacity in China
W. R. Grace & Co (Grace), a leading independent supplier of polyolefin catalyst technology and polypropylene (PP) process technology, announced that Oriental Energy Co. Ltd. (Oriental Energy) has commissioned a new facility using Grace's UNIPOL® PP Process Technology. The new 400 kiloton/year (KTA) reactor line located in Maoming, China has begun production of high-quality homopolymer and random copolymer.
Oriental Energy currently operates four facilities using UNIPOL® PP technology with 1.6 million tons of licensed PP capacity: 400 KTA in Zhangjiagang (started up in 2015); two 400 KTA reactor lines in Ningbo (started up in 2021); and the new facility in Maoming. Oriental Energy now operates the largest total UNIPOL® PP process technology capacity active in China.
Sandra Wisniewski, President of W. R. Grace Specialty Catalysts, said: "Our collaboration with Oriental Energy on the successful startup in Maoming marks another milestone in our partnership. Our advanced PP process technology fulfills our Plant Lifetime Performance™ commitment, as demonstrated by the long-term relationship between our two companies."
Sun Canqian, General Manager of Oriental Energy (Maoming) Co. Ltd., added: "We appreciate the joint efforts of the Oriental Energy and Grace teams in achieving a successful startup by demonstrating a catalysis reaction occurring within 10 minutes after injection. This new UNIPOL® PP technology line aligns with our commitment to supplying quality polypropylene products in China."
Oriental Energy selected UNIPOL® polypropylene process technology for its reliable production capacity, latest PP technology, proven catalyst performance and technical service. The process technology enables production of high-performance polypropylene resins used in diverse applications including automotive parts, packaging, consumer goods and infrastructure materials.
