Turkey's First Green Transformation Mentorship

Turkey's First Green Transformation Mentorship Green Transformation Mentorship service, a first in Turkey, has launched under the "Supporting Green and Digital Transformation for Employment" Project, carried out in collaboration between Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) and the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) PEP Program. The service aims to prepare companies for the "Green Deal" process, increase their productivity, and support their transformation processes. With the aim of guiding companies in adapting to the European Green Deal announced by the European Union (EU) on 11 December 2019, to make the EU the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050, contributing to the work they can undertake, and facilitating the transition of Gaziantep and regional industry to green energy, 30 companies selected from those applying for mentorship services will receive mentor visits for 2 hours per week over 16 weeks for each company. Prior to the 4-month mentorship services, preparatory training was provided to relevant personnel of the 30 companies to ensure their readiness for the mentorship process and to make the process more productive. Through the Green Transformation Mentorship Service, each company will receive detailed information and training on the Green Deal, calculation of Corporate Carbon Footprint, examination of waste management and symbiotic relations in the operation, information on Green Energy Certification and obtaining this certification, information on processes related to establishing ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, information on Water Footprint, and information on Green Labels. Following the mentorship service, a separate "Green Transformation Roadmap" will be prepared for each company. The "Supporting Digital and Green Transformation Project" is being carried out under the PEP – Supporting Economic Opportunities Program, financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economics, Business Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in partnership between the German International Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO).
