The textile sector met to discuss sustainability within the scope of Sustainability Talks Istanbul. Sustainability Talks was organized in strategic partnership between the Turkish Exporters Assembly Textile and Raw Materials Sector Board and 0Orbit Consulting, under the main sponsorship of Kipaş Mensucat, and held in hybrid format at Zorlu PSM. According to a statement made by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHİB), Sustainability Talks Istanbul hosted prominent names in fashion and textile sustainability, including Kingpins Show Founder Andrew Olah, Liesl Truscott from Textile Exchange, Calvin Woolley from Ikea, Turkish Development Bank General Manager Ece Börü, and İpeker Board Member İhsan İpeker. Key topics highlighted at the conference included circularity, sustainable raw materials, supply chain transparency and traceability, renewable energy and water.

Sustainable Turkey in All Areas

The statement also included remarks from Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle. Gülle noted that in June they shared with the public the road map of the TİM Sustainability Action Plan, which they prepared with the motto "producing for the world without consuming the world". Gülle stated: "On this path we have embarked with 12 main targets in our TİM Sustainability Action Plan, by branding our country in terms of sustainability, we will realize our dream of 'Sustainable Turkey in All Areas'." Sharing information about the action plan, Gülle also emphasized that adding value to our economy, along with circularity in industry and advanced recovery, was set as one of their main targets.

Sustainability is Necessity, Not Choice

Remarks from İTHİB Chairman Ahmet Öksüz were also included. Öksüz conveyed that with the "Textile Sector Sustainability Action Plan" they implemented under TİM's leadership, they aim to bring lasting transformation to the sector, further increase market share in global exports, and achieve high-level compliance with European Green Deal standards. Öksüz stated: "As the textile sector, we view sustainability not as a choice, but as a necessity and responsibility."
