Airnov develops sustainable advances for DRICARD™ desiccants.
Airnov Healthcare Packaging, a leader in controlled atmosphere packaging, now offers its customers a new and more sustainable version of DRICARD products.
DRICARD is a flat desiccant sheet composed of calcium chloride desiccant laminated between film layers. Like desiccant packets, DRICARD is designed to provide a dry package environment to protect nutraceuticals, food and diagnostics from the harmful effects of moisture.
The new, more sustainable version provides twice the capacity in the same-sized card, uses less plastic, and is printed in high-contrast blue ink on a white background, meaning it requires 80% less ink to produce than the current orange DRICARD.

[caption id="attachment_137795" align="aligncenter"] (Photo source: Airnov)[/caption]The new DRICARD offers performance advantages alongside multiple advanced sustainability certifications, meaning its double thickness provides twice the moisture absorption capacity compared to the previous model, while maintaining the same overall size and surface area.
Nicolas Martinez explained: "This new capability, which doubles the absorption capacity in a DRICARD of the same size, improves Airnov's product performance and, most importantly, enables our customers to better optimize their packaging."
Other key features of DRICARD include a dust-prevention property made possible by the binding of calcium chloride desiccant within the laminate structure. Additionally, the card's rigid structure allows high-speed automatic placement with card dispensers or pick-and-place systems, while its flat profile is designed for use in small and confined packaging spaces requiring drying. The blue-on-white printing provides high contrast and high visibility in situations where confusion with the end product must be minimized.
The new product is available in various standard sizes and can be adapted to custom sizes if required. It is also FDA compliant for use in nutraceutical and food applications.
