Polisan Raises Carbon Intensity Reduction Rate to 53 Percent Polisan Holding has documented its use of electricity from internationally certified I-REC renewable sources across its production facilities, operational processes and head office building. The Holding, which sources 50 percent of its electricity consumption from renewable sources, announced that it has raised its carbon intensity reduction rate (Scope I-II) under its direct and indirect control to 53 percent compared to 2012 levels. Polisan Holding Chief Executive Officer Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu noted that the company aims to reduce carbon emissions from electricity consumption to zero by 2025 through the use of renewable energy sources. Polisan Holding, one of Turkey's established group companies, has achieved another significant milestone in its climate change efforts as part of its sustainability strategy. Having recently upgraded its performance rating to "B-" level in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change and Water Security programmes and becoming one of 33 Turkish companies globally with this rating, Polisan Holding announced that it has increased its carbon emission intensity reduction rate to 53 percent. International Renewable Energy Certification While reducing its carbon footprint through internationally I-REC Certified renewable energy sources, CEO Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu made the following statement on the matter: "Today, we are pleased that across all our facilities, operations, offices and head office building, we have met 50 percent of our electricity consumption from renewable energy sources, obtained our International I-REC certificates, and thereby increased our carbon emission intensity reduction rate from 39 percent to 53 percent. We are working to achieve the strategic target we have set to zero out emissions within this scope through renewable energy sources by 2025. Our climate change efforts continue as we focus on all environmental impacts we create from product design to operational efficiency to energy supply from renewable energy sources." Commitment to Climate Change Action Providing information on the sustainability strategies they implement with the vision "From Unity, the Future is Born," Mehmet Hacıkamiloğlu stated, "At our subsidiaries Polisan Kansai Boya, Polisan Kimya and Poliport Kimya, we have been calculating and reporting direct carbon footprint, expressed as Scope 1, and indirect carbon footprint, expressed as Scope 2 emissions, since 2012. Over this period, through effective monitoring, measurement and management, we have managed to reduce our Scope 1-2 emission intensity by 39 percent by concentrating on all activities creating carbon footprint in our operations. In 2020, we included Scope 3 emissions in our inventories to be able to assess processes that are not directly managed and controlled by us but that we influence. We continue our climate change efforts, which are part of the sustainability strategies we have set with the vision 'From Unity, the Future is Born,' with determination."
