Polat Enerji to highlight the importance of wind energy

Polat Enerji, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, aims to raise public awareness by emphasizing the importance of wind energy on World Wind Day, celebrated annually on 15 June. Operating in the energy sector for over 20 years and serving as one of the sector's pioneers particularly in wind energy, Polat Enerji currently holds a total installed wind capacity of 719.8 MWm. This capacity represents approximately 6.1% of Turkey's total installed wind power. Aware of the importance of renewable energy investments, Polat Enerji operates five wind power plants in Turkey, where wind energy potential is high: Soma RES, Seyitali RES, Poyraz RES, Geycek RES and Göktepe RES. Polat Enerji is investing in deploying Turkey's first grid-scale energy storage system at Soma RES, Turkey's largest and Europe's seventh largest wind power plant with an installed capacity of 288.1 MWe. Through this, the company aims to reduce the costs of balancing supply and demand in the electricity grid. Geycek RES, which holds the distinction of being Turkey's fifth largest wind power plant with 168 MW installed capacity, is also part of this portfolio. In 2023, Polat Enerji commissioned the capacity expansion investment of the Göktepe RES project located in Yalova, increasing the plant's installed capacity to 121.1 MWm and continuing its investments. In 2023, Polat Enerji generated approximately 2 billion kWh of electricity through its renewable energy plants, thereby meeting the electricity needs of approximately 610,000 households. Furthermore, through the plants in its portfolio, the company reduces carbon dioxide gas emissions equivalent to 55 million trees planted annually, a total of 1.3 million tonnes.
