Polat Enerji has announced it will integrate a battery storage system into Soma RES, Turkey's largest wind power plant, with the aim of reducing balancing costs. This Polat Enerji project will be Turkey's first grid-scale battery storage facility. Soma Wind Energy plant, Turkey's largest wind power facility, together with Polat Enerji, will contribute to balancing supply and demand in the electrical grid through a new battery storage facility with 4 MW power and 4 MWh energy capacity. With an installed capacity of 288.1 MWe, Soma RES, Turkey's largest wind energy plant, aims to put into operation Turkey's first grid-scale storage system alongside this new energy storage investment. Polat Enerji will procure the necessary equipment from Huawei for this investment, which will be carried out in cooperation with Partner Electronic Power Systems. Board Member Özgür Neşet Cireli stated, "Through this investment, we aim to maximize renewable energy obtained from Soma RES while also reducing imbalance costs. This investment, which will contribute to supporting stability in the electrical grid and eliminating gaps in energy flow, will play an important role in our country's achievement of renewable energy targets and diversification of energy supply sources."       Founded in 2000 with the aim of investing in renewable energy to support sustainability, Polat Enerji today produces clean energy with a total of 5 wind and 1 solar energy plant in Turkey, focusing on Turkey's wind energy potential. With the Soma, Seyitali, Poyraz, Geycek and Göktepe wind energy plants, Polat Enerji holds the title of Turkey's largest wind power plant investor. It generates approximately 2.1 billion kWh of electricity annually and achieves approximately 1.3 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emission reduction equivalent to planting 53 million trees. Polat Enerji has been a sector leader in sustainable energy production for many years and conducts its operations in an environment, community, employment and innovation-focused manner. Soma RES, one of the company's wind energy plants, is Turkey's largest wind power plant. Through its projects, Polat Enerji plays an active role not only in energy sector activities but also in environmental and social responsibility areas.
