US exports of Turkey's plastics sector increase

The fair, which hosted more than 2,100 participating companies, was visited by more than 50,000 people. İKMİB Board Member Selçuk Gülsün, Erkan Aydın and Fatma Köktaş, who attended the fair together with T.C. Miami Trade Attaché Ömer İnce, visited participating companies and conveyed their best wishes. Approximately USD 3 billion in exports was realized in the first four-month period In his statement, Pelister noted that İKMİB successfully represented our country at NPE 2024 fair for the third time this year, stating: "A total of 34 Turkish companies participated in the fair, 10 through national participation and 24 individually. At the fair, which is one of the most important global events in the plastic sector, the promotion of Turkish brands, and the establishment of new business partnerships represent an important opportunity for our sector exporters. The US market is among our target markets for our country and our sector. Looking at our plastic sector's exports to the US, we see that in 2023 it reached USD 385 million. This year, in the first four-month period, plastic sector exports to the US reached USD 145.6 million with a 20.5 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year, making us the fourth largest exporting country in the sector. While the plastic sector's overall exports were USD 9.16 billion in 2023, in the first four-month period this year it reached approximately USD 3 billion. We consider it important for sector companies to participate in such events to maintain the sector's export growth steadily.
