Work on Pyrolysis Plant Continues at Full Speed

The Pyrolysis Facility is being established under the partnership of Karabük University and Karabük Municipality within the scope of the "Disposal and Recovery of Plastic Waste through Pyrolysis Method" project, with work at the facility proceeding at full pace.

Five-Year Trial Period of Pyrolysis Facility Commences

The Pyrolysis Facility is being constructed under the partnership of Karabük University and Karabük Municipality within the scope of the "Disposal and Recovery of Plastic Waste through Pyrolysis Method" project. The Pyrolysis Facility completed its 18-month project period and has begun a five-year trial process. Approximately 600 tons of plastic waste at the facility will be converted into liquid fuel through the pyrolysis method. The project was developed within the scope of the "Zero Waste" campaign launched by the Presidency. Through the project, industrial pollution will be prevented in the TR81 Region, and non-recyclable plastic waste from all large, medium and small-scale enterprises operating in the Organized Industrial Zone, Cumayanı Industrial Zone, Bağ-Essan Industrial Zone, and Kemal Oyman Industrial Zone within the responsibility area of Karabük Municipality will be collected. Subsequently, the aim is to convert this waste into valuable products such as pyrolytic oil through the pyrolysis method.

"An Undeniable Project for Our Environment and for Us"

Since plastic waste cannot be recycled, it causes great harm to nature. Through this project, plastic waste disposal and recovery will handle daily plastic waste ranging from 500 kilograms to 2.5 tons, and as a result, pyrolytic fuel will be obtained. Vice Rector of Karabük University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yaşar, providing comments on the project, stated that the project creates important awareness in environmental and waste management. Yaşar said: "We are recovering non-recyclable plastic waste through the pyrolysis method up to 100 percent recovery. The fuel produced through recovery can be used especially in generators and work trucks. This is an undeniable project for our environment and for us." he stated.

Total Cost of TRY 4 Million

The total cost of the project is approximately TRY 4 million and approximately 600 tons of plastic waste will be converted into liquid fuel through the pyrolysis method. The Pyrolysis Facility, as the first non-profit, socially responsible facility of its kind in Turkey, has commenced its five-year trial period.
