Working under a sustainable living policy, Pınar Water and Beverages has announced the data it obtained in 2023 and its targets for this year within the scope of natural resource protection, waste reduction at source, and circular economy-focused activities. Pınar Water and Beverages, which holds a "Zero Waste" certificate at all production facilities, achieved a reduction of 8.3 tons of plastic at source last year. Pınar Water and Beverages places effective waste management at the center of its business model, in which waste is separately collected, stored, and directed to licensed recovery facilities from raw material use to waste generation in production, or reduced at source without being included in the production process, thereby implementing important activities for a zero-waste future. Within this scope, the company implemented numerous projects including packaging material selection and optimization of material use. The brand, which regularly shares these efforts with the public each year, has announced the outputs it achieved in 2023.
Reduced by 7.9 percent
Pınar Water and Beverages, which has been pursuing PET packaging gramage optimization efforts since 2011, announced that as a result of technological investments and R&D activities, in 2023 it achieved a 4.4 percent plastic reduction in the high-volume PET product group compared to the previous year. With the implementation of this work, it achieved a plastic reduction of 4.7 tons in a single product group in 2023 alone. Additionally, in 2023, optimization efforts implemented in product shrink films (outer packaging that enables bottles to be packaged together) resulted in 15.1 to 24.2 percent less plastic use per unit product in the beverages group; and as a result of improvement efforts carried out especially in water group shrink films, the amount used per unit product was reduced by 7.9 to 23.2 percent. As a result of these efforts, a total of 3.6 tons of plastic was reduced at source. At the same time, changes made in paper quality and dimensions in separator material (paper and corrugated cardboard) used in product pallets provided a 4 percent improvement per pallet product in certain product groups.
