Pierre Fabre Launches Green Impact Index
Green Impact Index from Pierre Fabre
Pierre Fabre, which develops its products using the most natural methods with its botanical identity, has launched the "GREEN IMPACT INDEX," a solid, scientifically-based transparent rating system to maximize its environmentally-friendly and sustainable innovations and make its operations more environmentally responsible.
With increasing ecological awareness, concepts such as sustainable agriculture, harvesting that does not harm nature, and environment-conscious production gain importance each passing year. On the other hand, every stage of the life cycle of a cosmetic or family health product creates impacts on the environment.
Pierre Fabre, which holds 16,000 plant specimens in the world's largest private plant archive and collects 97 percent of the plants it uses in its products according to sustainability principles, created the "GREEN IMPACT INDEX" to help consumers make more sustainable and conscious purchasing decisions.
First company to use socio-environmental product rating system
Pierre Fabre, which has conducted research for over 10 years and based its actions on data obtained from environmental analyses of products, is today the first company to use a socio-environmental product rating system applicable to both cosmetic and family health products. Under the GREEN IMPACT INDEX, where the environmental and social impacts of products are classified according to a total of 20 separate criteria and this impact is indicated on product packaging, product packages are marked with A-B-C-D classes to indicate how environmentally-friendly the product is and allow consumers to take this into account in their product choices. According to the GREEN IMPACT INDEX, products are evaluated based on environmental criteria such as biodegradability, recyclable packaging and organic content, as well as numerous social criteria such as allocating resources from product sales revenue to social responsibility projects for nature and people. The soundness and reliability of all these criteria are evaluated by the independent organization AFNOR Certification.Covers many different categories
To prove that the Green Impact Index can be adapted to all types of cosmetic and family health products, initial evaluations will cover shampoos, dry shampoos, shower gels, face and body creams, products used in acne treatments, oral care products, etc. New products will be evaluated monthly and announced on the brand's website by the end of each year.Commitments to green respect have been established
