PepsiCo Türkiye Adds New Achievements to Its Track Record
PepsiCo Turkey, one of PepsiCo's largest operations, continues to make headlines with its achievements.
Meltem Kimya's bottles produced from 100 percent recycled PET suitable for food contact for Pepsi, Yedigün and Fruko won first prize at the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards.
The 1-litre bottles of Pepsi, Yedigün and Fruko stand out as the first bottles made entirely from rPET produced in Turkey.
PepsiCo Turkey, one of PepsiCo's largest operations and a leading company in sustainability globally, continues to add to its achievements through work aligned with its pep+ strategy.
PepsiCo's bottle made from 100 percent recycled PET, a first in Turkey and placed on shelves in 2022, won first prize at the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards, organised by the World Packaging Organization with over 300 participants from more than 34 countries annually.
The 100 percent recycled rPETs realised by Meltem Kimya are produced through chemical depolymerisation technology. Toxic substances are completely eliminated in the production of these rPETs, which have no other example in the world.
Taking important steps in sustainable packaging, PepsiCo Turkey is one of the leading companies in recycled PET usage. It produces its 1-litre PET bottles used in carbonated beverage products such as Pepsi, Yedigün and Fruko from 100 percent recycled plastic.
In addition to this first application in the beverage sector, PepsiCo Turkey, managing sustainability end-to-end in accordance with its positive strategy, operates all six of its plants with zero waste certification from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.
