Paper Wrapping Solution for Pallets

Mondi, a leading firm in sustainable packaging and paper, has partnered with Robopac, a pallet wrapping machine manufacturer, to deliver a seamless and more sustainable paper wrapping solution for pallet storage and transport.

  The two organisations collaborated closely to develop this solution by combining Mondi's expertise in packaging and paper with Robopac's knowledge of wrapping machines. Robopac's new paper wrapping machine uses Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap, a 100% kraft paper product that provides excellent protection for palletised goods thanks to high strength, puncture resistance and tension absorption. Sourced responsibly and produced from renewable materials without plastic or coating, this paper is fully recyclable in existing waste streams across Europe. Both Robopac's semi-automatic and fully automatic machines can accommodate Mondi's Advantage StretchWrap, enabling customers to replace unnecessary plastic currently industry standard for pallet wrapping. An independent life cycle assessment (LCA) institution demonstrated that Advantage StretchWrap performs better across various environmental impact categories such as climate change. The LCA showed it has 62% lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared with virgin plastic stretch film and 49% lower GHG emissions compared with plastic stretch film made with 50% recycled content.   [caption id="attachment_156372" align="alignnone"] (Photo source: Mondi)[/caption]   The semi-automatic machine processes a 25 kg Advantage StretchWrap roll, securing 40 pallets per hour with one roll. The fully automatic wrapping machine can wrap up to 750 pallets with one roll, equivalent to 60 pallets per hour. This solution was presented at the 2023 Interpack fair, where visitors could witness first-hand successful tests on the prototype.
