Organized Industrial Zones to Set an Example for Green Transformation

Industrial Parks to Lead Green Transformation The Organized Industrial Zones Federation (OSBÜK) organized the "Green Transformation and Sustainability Workshop for Industrial Parks" in Antalya. The workshop held at a hotel in Antalya was attended by industrial park directors and relevant personnel from organized industrial zones in all 81 provinces. OSBÜK Vice Chairman Seyit Ardıç delivered opening remarks at the workshop. Ardıç emphasized that organized industrial zones, which generate 45 percent of Turkey's industrial production, serve as locomotives for Turkish industry, and stated that OSBs would set an example for Turkey in the green transformation process.

Green Transformation and Sustainability Workshop for Industrial Parks Opens

In his opening remarks for the "Green Transformation and Sustainability Workshop for Industrial Parks," OSBÜK Vice Chairman Seyit Ardıç conveyed that they have undertaken important work to strengthen OSBs in the green transformation process. Highlighting the particular importance of renewable energy investments in the green transformation, Ardıç stated: "We place great importance on increasing renewable energy investments in our industrial parks. Currently, the capacity of renewable investments in our OSBs has reached 1,282 MW. We aim to double this capacity by 2030. We are continuously working with our Ministry of Industry and Technology toward this goal. Because renewable investments will be one of our strongest muscles in the green transformation process."

Industrial Parks Have Become Investors' Top Priority

Noting that organized industrial zones have become investors' top choice, Ardıç thanked OSB zone directors and employees who contributed to this success. "At the point we have reached today, the answer to the question 'Where is investment made in Turkey?' is very clearly organized industrial zones. Behind this investor preference lies the hard work of our zone directors and employees who provide services in our OSBs. I thank all our employees in our OSBs, the unseen heroes of this success story," he said.

Providing Significant Contributions to Turkish Industry and Employment

Fatih Turan, Director General of Industrial Zones at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, also spoke at the workshop. Discussing the importance of organized industrial zones in Turkey's planned industrialization and sustainable development, Turan stated that OSBs provide very significant contributions to Turkish industry and employment.

"Job Opportunities Provided to Approximately 2 Million 220 Thousand Workers Across More Than 56 Thousand Plots"

Turan said: "As of today, there is no province in our country without an industrial park. Additionally, there are 110 ongoing OSB projects in our Ministry's 2022 investment program, and approximately TRY 2.5 billion has been spent on these projects to date at 2022 prices. Our Ministry will continue to provide stable state support for OSB implementations. The occupancy rate in our organized industrial zones is approximately 83 percent, and job opportunities have been provided to approximately 2 million 220 thousand workers across more than 56 thousand plots with facilities located in these OSBs. It is expected that this number will reach 3 million people with the allocation of empty plots in OSBs and completion of their construction." Turan extended his thanks to OSBÜK, the umbrella organization for all industrial parks in Turkey, and stated that OSBÜK serves as a strong bridge between the ministry and industrial parks. Turan concluded his remarks stating: "OSBÜK, established to ensure coordination and solidarity between our Ministry and OSBs, undertakes a very important mission such as making initiatives with relevant institutions and organizations to resolve OSBs' problems and conducting work. OSBÜK, serving as a strong bridge between OSBs and our Ministry, has pioneered the resolution of many OSB problems from a legal standpoint by easing the burden on OSBs since its establishment."
