Orion Upgraded to "B" Level by CDP

Orion Engineered Carbons has been upgraded to a "B" rating by CDP, a non-profit organization, in recognition of the company's management of environmental impacts from its operations and demonstrated good environmental management practices. Based in London, CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, operates a global system enabling companies to report their environmental impacts. CDP evaluates the information using its own methodology and assigns a score. More than 18,700 companies worldwide reported data through CDP in 2022. Orion CEO Corning Painter stated, "Our 'B' rating is the latest example of the significant progress we have made on sustainability in recent years," adding "Accountability is one of Orion's core values, which is why we are committed to reporting openly and transparently about our climate program, particularly the CO2 emission reduction measures we have implemented and the progress we have achieved in protecting the environment and our communities." Since 2017, Orion has disclosed its climate-related performance through CDP and previously received a "C" rating, which indicates an awareness level. CDP states that companies receiving a "B" rating have reached the management level. The organization commented that they "have addressed the environmental impacts of their operations and demonstrated good environmental management practices." CDP said the "A" list is reserved for companies that go beyond awareness and management to lead on environmental transparency and action. Earlier this year, Orion was also upgraded from "Silver" to "Gold" by EcoVadis, an independent organization that assesses companies' sustainability performance in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, sustainable procurement, and overall sustainability governance.
