Organic Waste Converted into Benefits The social enterprise journey of Doğuş University students, who are converting organic waste into benefits, continues to grow. The social innovation project that students describe as a 'self-sustaining garden system' and named PLANTRIC has expanded and incorporated as a company, opening its first office in New York. Members of the PLANTRIC initiative—Aylin Yazıcı, Can Zenginel and İlayda İnce—which has won awards in numerous national and international competitions, been featured in documentaries and appeared on foreign television channels, shared details about their journey. Launching with a 'zero waste' motto and comprising Doğuş University students, Marketing Manager Can Zenginel from the PLANTRIC team stated, "In a national and international competition with 3,865 applications worldwide, we came first in Turkey and were selected as global finalists. Following our success in the project we are working on to make the world a more livable place, we produced our first prototype at our university and began R&D work." "We Have Begun Collaborations with Municipalities" İlayda İnce, responsible for business development, noted that they started customer meetings following successful results with the prototype. "While all these processes continue, we were selected from among 44 countries and featured in the 'Innovators of Change' documentary, which includes 4 countries, representing Turkey. We are currently in discussions with numerous companies operating domestically under a sustainability theme. Within this scope, we have reached an agreement with a hotel operating in this field. We will convert the hotel's organic waste into benefits. At the same time, we have started work with municipalities on converting waste into compost," she said.
