Nestlé Türkiye Marks World Environment Day

Nestlé Turkey Celebrates World Environment Day Nestlé Turkey, through its "Generation Regeneration" action plan, is adding new initiatives to its work that benefits the planet and touches every aspect of life. On 5 June, World Environment Day, Nestlé created Memorial Forests in Ordu and Kayseri by planting 140,000 saplings through TEMA Foundation. The Nestlé Cares Employee Volunteering Club donated 27 million steps through Help Steps to the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), which will enable basic disaster prevention and awareness training on forest fires for local residents living in forested areas. Nestlé, the world's leading nutrition, health and wellness company, continues to protect and develop the ecological order and improve the lives of all living things through its "Creating Shared Value" approach. Aiming to go beyond sustainability, the company took another step under the "Generation Regeneration" action plan it launched to support the transition to regenerative food systems for the planet's future. With a sense of responsibility towards today's and tomorrow's world, Nestlé Turkey continues its efforts to increase forest resources while protecting natural assets and life cycles. In line with its goal of leaving a sustainable world for the future, Nestlé created Memorial Forests in Ordu and Kayseri with 140,000 saplings through TEMA Foundation. The planted saplings will provide approximately 8,000 tonnes of oxygen to nature by the time they reach 30 years of age.

Nestlé Commits to Planting 200 Million Trees Globally

  Nestlé Turkey Marketing and Corporate Communications Director Zeynep Sungu, noting that everyone has a responsibility in the fight against climate crisis, one of the issues threatening the future, said: "With the goal of creating a sustainable future, as Nestlé we are seeking new ways not only to improve our planet and reduce our impact, but also to give back what we take from the planet. In line with this goal, under the 'Generation Regeneration' umbrella, we committed to planting 200 million trees globally by 2030. In line with our commitment, through TEMA Foundation we created Turkey's first Nestlé Memorial Forests in Ordu and Kayseri with 140,000 saplings. Our memorial forests, created with 40,000 saplings in Ordu and 100,000 saplings in Kayseri, will remove approximately 5,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 2050. This impact will continue to multiply over the years. Our afforestation work will continue in suitable locations and times for a more liveable world. At the same time, through our Nestlé Cares Employee Volunteering Club, we took steps for nature protection. The steps we took through the Help Steps application will support efforts to raise awareness among local residents about forest fires with AKUT. As Nestlé Turkey, we celebrate World Environment Day by contributing to the greening and protection of green spaces in our country."

27 Million Steps Donated to AKUT for Forest Protection

Alongside the saplings it brought to nature, Nestlé Turkey continues its work to protect natural life. The company, in cooperation with AKUT Search and Rescue Association and led by the Nestlé Cares Employee Volunteering Club, organized a donation campaign through the Help Steps application. The 27 million steps taken by the volunteer team, which makes kindness and solidarity a life practice in every aspect of life, will enable local residents living near forested areas to receive training on forest fire prevention. The training aims to increase awareness among local residents about forest fires and protect forests.
