Mowilex Receives Fourth Consecutive Carbon Neutral Certification Paint manufacturer PT Mowilex Endonezya (Mowilex) completed Scope 1, 2 and 3 assessments aligned with the global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and received its fourth consecutive CarbonNeutral® certification from Climate Impact Partners. Mowilex, which produces premium-quality paints, wood coatings and construction coatings, is Indonesia's first carbon-neutral manufacturer. Mowilex qualified for the certification by recording significant carbon reductions and offsets over a 12-month period. Circumstances such as returns to offices and the resumption of business travel following the pandemic caused the company's carbon totals to rise slightly year-on-year. Mowilex operated across multiple facilities while transitioning to the new Cikande plant, which will ultimately reduce the company's carbon footprint by up to 7% and provide energy savings. Remaining emissions are now offset through carbon credits. Last month, Mowilex installed a solar canopy at its headquarters that will permanently reduce carbon emissions by up to 30%. The panels provide maximum solar efficiency permitted under current electricity company regulations while protecting vehicles from the sun. PT Mowilex Endonezya Chief Executive Officer Niko Safavi stated, "Our fourth consecutive carbon-neutral certification from Climate Impact Partners demonstrates Mowilex's commitment to the environment and society. As a company that values ethical principles, we know that the unseen cost of pollution weighs heavier than the difficulties and expenses of doing the right thing." Mowilex Sustainability Director Tania Wakhidah Ariningtyas stated, "Mowilex is helping Indonesia achieve its 2030 renewable energy target of 25% and its net-zero carbon goal by 2060 by reducing in-house emissions. We also support carbon reduction efforts in developing countries through two projects endorsed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change." At Thailand's SPM Farm, an efficient wastewater treatment system captures biogas that feeds electricity-generating motors while reducing methane emissions. The Burgos Wind Project, the Philippines' largest wind farm, generates clean electricity from 50 turbines, creates employment and supports environmental education. Dave Jonas, Climate Services Manager at SCS Global Services, stated, "Mowilex's fourth year of carbon-neutral certification demonstrates the company's continued leadership in sustainability because the firm has focused on further reducing its carbon footprint each year with offset projects that benefit the environment."
