MG International Receives Environmental Award for Second Time The Şahabettin Bilgisu Environmental Awards, Turkey's most prestigious environmental honour organized for the 29th time this year by KSO, have found their recipients. MG International Fragrance Company received the Large-Scale Facility Category Chemistry Sector Environmental Award. Awards were presented to 5 companies in two categories: environmental award and sectoral award. MG International Fragrance Company CEO Aslan Gülçiçek received the award from Kocaeli Chamber of Industry Board Chairman Hasan Tahsin Tuğrul.

The company, which also received an environmental award in 2016, continued its environmental investments after 2016. Due to energy efficiency projects (LED lighting automation systems, I-REC certification), Zero Waste initiatives, rainwater collection projects, water reduction projects, recovery and reuse of wastewater from treatment facilities, hazardous waste reduction projects, scrap reduction projects, odour reduction projects, emission and carbon reduction projects, carbon footprint verification, biodiversity initiatives, Sustainability Reports and environment-themed corporate social responsibility projects, "MG INTERNATIONAL FRAGRANCE COMPANY" qualified for the Large-Scale Facility Category Chemistry Sector Environmental Award. With an environmentally conscious production philosophy, the company invested over USD 5 million in environmental infrastructure and projects over the past 7 years to protect and support natural life.

2023 Environmental Award-Winning Applications

Energy Design Projects: Energy audit studies, continuous review of compressed air piping and prevention of energy consumption from resulting air leaks, boiler modernization projects, combustion adjustment application in boilers. Led Lighting Automation Systems: LED lighting automation systems I-Rec: I-Rec Certification supporting renewable energy sources for all electricity consumed.

Zero Waste Initiatives

Rainwater Collection Projects: Use of rainwater collected in a storage tank for garden irrigation. Water Consumption Reduction Projects: Shower flow regulator and water-saving tap cartridge applied to all facility taps, achieving 85% water savings per tap. Wastewater Recovery from Treatment Facilities: Greywater recovery system to recover domestic wastewater generated in the system, improvement of wastewater quality by changing detergents used in washing water. Hazardous Waste Reduction Projects: Hazardous waste management and recycling applications, provision of special fire containers for hazardous waste that could cause fire in the waste yard, provision of special sprinkler extinguishers for waste yard fire safety, provision of fire-resistant special waste bins for safe storage of waste throughout the facility, Zero Waste initiatives, provision of Spill response kits to all production areas and laboratories, replacement of needle tips used for sampling with blood gas caps, eliminating needle tip use, cancellation of waste sent for disposal, regular cleaning and maintenance of channels and wells. Scrap Reduction Projects: Manufacturing tables and chairs from waste barrels for use by personnel in rest areas.
