MelOx NGen is a high-performance barrier product specifically designed to enable recyclability of plastic food packaging. Beyond its superior eco-profile, the new coating plays a crucial role in preserving food freshness and significantly reducing plastic waste. MelOx NGen is a water-based, plant-derived coating designed to coat the inner surface of numerous plastic food packaging types such as films, pouches, bags, lids and blister packs used to contain CPG products, and has been introduced to the global plastics industry. The coating, approved for food contact suitability by FDA and BfR, helps protect and extend shelf life of foods such as snacks, confectionery, nutrition bars, meat and dairy products, as well as pharmaceuticals. Melox NGen is a new version of Melodea's award-winning bio-based and renewable material MelOx for paper packaging, specifically designed for use on plastics. This material, used to coat packaging as a transparent layer, offers a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to petroleum-based Ethyl Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH) copolymers currently widely used in cap production in packaging and met-PET plastic materials due to their food protection properties.
