LyondellBasell Acquires Mepol Group

LyondellBasell Completes Acquisition of Mepol Group LyondellBasell has completed the acquisition of Mepol Group, a producer of recycled, high-performance technical compounds based in Italy and Poland. Mepol S.r.l. and its subsidiaries Polar S.r.l. and Industrial Technology Investments Poland Sp.z.o.o will become subsidiaries within LyondellBasell's Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) business unit. LyondellBasell's APS segment produces compounding solutions including polypropylene compounds, engineered plastics, masterbatches, engineered composites, colorants and powders. Torkel Rhenman, Vice President of LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions, stated: "The acquisition is aligned with our forward-thinking and circular economy commitment. We see significant opportunities to accelerate the growth of our APS business by leveraging Mepol's deep expertise in recycled compounds and LyondellBasell's expansion strategy, capitalizing on macro trends in circularity and creating solutions for sustainable everyday living," he said. Through its supply chain approach, LyondellBasell is establishing a leadership position to meet rapidly growing demand for circular and renewable solutions with innovative products and technologies. The company commits to producing and marketing at least 2 million mt of polymer annually from recycled or renewable-based sources by 2030 to meet its customers' needs. Source
