Winners Announced for Global Climate Change Photography Competition

Winners announced in Alarko Carrier's 10th Global Climate Change Photography Contest. Submissions highlighted the dramatic impact of climate change and the destruction it creates. The winners of Alarko Carrier's Global Climate Change Photography Contest, now in its tenth year, have been announced. The contest aims to draw attention to the impact of climate change, which stands out as one of today's major issues, on our world and the environment we live in. Nearly 1,000 photographs were submitted to the contest, with applications made via Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #AlarkoCarrierGlobalClimate2023. In the first stage of the selection process, a preliminary jury that included Journalist and Photographer Adem Meleke, Gezgin Foto Editor-in-Chief Nihan Özgen Meleke, Alarko Carrier Deputy General Manager Hırant Kalataş, Alarko Carrier Corporate Communications Manager Hüdai Öztürk and Alarko Carrier Marketing Director Volkan Arslan selected 50 photographs. Subsequently, 12 photographs were determined as winners through votes cast by the selection committee.

Winners became recipients of special prizes

The 12 winning photographs were selected after the selection committee convened and evaluated all submissions. The selection committee included Journalist and Photographer Adem Meleke, Documentarian and Photo Reporter Coşkun Aral, Photographer Dilan Bozyel, Milliyet Newspaper Photo Editor and Photo Reporter Ercan Arslan, Photographer and Author Merih Akoğul, Alarko Carrier Chairman of the Board Niv Garih and Serdesin Agency President and Advertising Professional Serhat Bayram. As a result of the selection committee's evaluation, the owners of the first 12 photographs that placed qualified to receive special prizes from Alarko Carrier. Following the selection committee's evaluation, Mehmet Sümer, who placed first, qualified to receive an iPhone 14 mobile phone as a prize. Second place winner Betül Şimşek received a drone, and third place winner Yunus Yıldız received a camera. Fourth place Mehmet Kıllınç, fifth place Nazım Özdemir and sixth place Seyit Konyalı became recipients of gimbal prizes. Seventh place Nurettin Boydak, eighth place Mürsel Çetin, ninth place Esengül Alıcı, tenth place Hikmet Tanirgan, eleventh place Mustafa Kütük, and twelfth place Veysi Şimşek each won a gift voucher worth TRY 3,000.00.
