Knauf Combating Climate Change Knauf is fulfilling its responsibility in the fight against climate change by minimizing the environmental impact of its facilities worldwide and producing gypsum-based building materials that are harmless to humans and the environment while preserving thermal efficiency. Global ISO 14001 and LEED certifications, as well as the "Zero Waste" Certificate at the Turkish level, demonstrate Knauf's commitment to an environmentally responsible approach. Knauf continues to steadfastly realize the idea of creating environmentally friendly technology and modern building materials that are encoded in its DNA. At the foundation of this commitment lies not only meeting consumer demand for quality and environmentally respectful products, but also the goal of minimizing excessive energy consumption, which causes the greatest damage to our planet's nature. Knauf, which is the creator of many environmentally friendly materials such as machine-processable plasters, formaldehyde-free mineral wool and the first binders for stone wool, also reduces water consumption during building construction through its dry construction systems bearing its signature. The company supports sustainable production in the construction sector by using recycled materials in its products. Knauf Gypsum Board® products contribute to thermal insulation on the wall surfaces where they are applied and consequently to the overall energy efficiency of buildings.

Knauf is environmentally responsible on a global scale

Knauf aims to minimize environmental impacts through co-generation and regeneration technologies used in its global production facilities. At its core, the fact that it holds the ISO 14001 Certification, which requires the reduction of natural resource use, minimization of damage to soil, water and air, and making these efforts subject to continuous improvement through monitoring environmental performance, emerges as the most important evidence of this. The company also documents its production of environmentally conscious, nature-respecting materials through the LEED Certification and EPD Certificates it has earned at the global level. LEED Certification is awarded by USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) to companies that develop and promote environmentally conscious design, implementation and operational standards at building and city scale. Knauf evaluates waste generated during production at its factories in Turkey by subjecting it to physical processing in waste minimization units and reusing it in production. The company's attention to environmental matters from raw material source to finished product was also confirmed through evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Directorates. Knauf's Ahiboz I and Kocaeli (İzmit) factories, and subsequently the Ankara Ahiboz II Factory, earned the "Zero Waste" Certificate.
