Kimpur Launches Clean Energy Production
Kimpur has taken an important step toward the industrial transformation required by the EU Green Deal, which has the potential to affect nearly everything from industry to exports, from access to financing to the functioning of the economy. By commissioning a solar energy power plant installed on its factory building in Gebze, Kimpur will now obtain approximately 20 percent of the energy required for production from clean sources.
Within the scope of the transformation envisaged for EU Green Deal compliance and maintaining competitiveness in exports, reducing carbon footprint and increasing the share of clean energy in production processes are of major importance.
Kimpur, one of the pioneering companies making necessary investments to ensure the transformations related to the EU Green Deal compliance process, will benefit from cost savings on electricity expenses through the solar energy panels it has commissioned, while meeting approximately 20 percent of total electricity consumption under current capacity and production conditions. At the same time, approximately 250-300 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented annually.
Kimpur CEO Cavidan Karaca made the following remarks regarding the commissioned solar energy panels:

Within the scope of the corporate social responsibility awareness that is part of our company's core values, we aim to benefit from solar energy, a renewable and clean energy source, in our production, thereby producing environmentally friendly solutions in industry, contributing to our country's economy's policies on reducing energy dependence on imports, and strengthening our company's competitive position in export and domestic markets through reducing energy costs in production. Mustafa Özyılmaz, Operations Director of Kimpur, which continues its operations across three different locations—one in Europe and two in Gebze and Düzce—provided the following comments on the matter: "Our country has considerable solar energy potential due to its geographical location. To capitalize on this potential, we equipped the roof of our Gebze factory with a 445.5 kWp Solar Energy System using Schmid Pekintaş Solar Energy Systems. In our project, we used 900 Schmid Pekintaş Multi Busbar Half Cut solar panels and 3 inverters. Along with the generated electricity, we plan to meet 40 percent of our electricity needs during summer months and 10 percent during winter months during the day, with the goal of using approximately 20 percent of our annual needs from the solar energy system." Highlighting that the solar energy system investments contribute to preventing annual carbon emissions of 250-300 tons and fossil fuel use equivalent to 100 tons, Özyılmaz stated, "I believe that with this step we have clearly demonstrated our environmental sensitivity." Kimpur plans to strengthen its competitive position in export and domestic markets by reducing energy costs in production through solar energy system investment in its Düzce Gümüşova Organized Industrial Zone facility, whose foundation was laid in May and will have a total annual capacity of 65,000 tons. Within the scope of sustainability targets, the company is focusing on recycling at its new production facility in Düzce. With this investment, the company aims to meet approximately 55 percent of total electricity consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 679 tons per year.Advertisement
