İZAYDAŞ, First Industrial Establishment to Receive Zero Waste Certificate

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary İZAYDAŞ has become the first industrial establishment in Kocaeli to receive a Zero Waste Certificate under the Zero Waste Regulation. As part of the nationwide "Zero Waste Certificate" certification process, İZAYDAŞ's activities in healthy and efficient use of resources, management of waste at source, reduction and recovery through sorting have been documented by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Thus, İZAYDAŞ has become the first industrial establishment in Kocaeli to establish a zero waste management system and receive a Zero Waste Certificate under the Zero Waste Regulation.

135 Tons of Recoverable Waste

Since the application date, İZAYDAŞ has obtained a total of 135 tons of recoverable waste. Through this, 9 tons of paper saved 150 trees, 7 tons of plastic saved 16,970 liters of petroleum products, 8 tons of organic waste produced 3 tons of compost, 3 tons of glass and 108 tons of metal contributed to a cleaner future by equating to equivalent amounts of raw materials.

"Adding Value to the Future Through Zero Waste"

İZAYDAŞ General Manager Muhammet Saraç stated in a statement that the company meticulously applied the zero waste approach in their operations, saying "We had an ambition regarding the zero waste certificate. Following the work carried out under the leadership of our Board Chairman and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Doç. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın, our certificate was approved as a result of close monitoring, rapid transformation and timely application. Our company was granted the basic level "Zero Waste Certificate" as the first among industrial establishments in Kocaeli. I thank all colleagues who contributed to this effort. Going forward, our aim is to proceed along the zero waste approach as required by the certificate and to conduct "continuous improvement" to advance our certificate to higher levels. We have the responsibility to add value to the future through zero waste and to set an example for our sector, our city and our country in this regard," he said.
