Hyundai, which has published sustainability reports since 2003, continues to share its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance with the public and stakeholders in line with global reporting standards.
The company's 2026 Sustainability Report comprehensively addresses sustainability initiatives under the headings of Environment, Social and Governance.
Renewable Energy and Circular Economy Investments Stand Out
According to the report, Hyundai achieved its RE100 target in Europe, North America and India operations by sourcing all electricity from renewable energy sources.
The company also signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 147 MW capacity solar energy at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) facility in Georgia, USA.
As part of its sustainability efforts, a new recycling system was launched to recover electric vehicle batteries at the end of their service life. Through the system developed in line with circular economy principles, the aim is to return critical raw materials to the economy.
The report also covers work on hydrogen technologies, electrification strategies and management of biodiversity risks.

Continued Investment in Safety and Employee Development
Under the heading of social sustainability, product safety, occupational health and safety, and employee development stand out as priority areas.
Sixteen Hyundai models were recognized by the US-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for Top Safety Pick (TSP) and Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) safety ratings.
The company also launched the 2030 Occupational Safety Management Strategy (Together for BAROZERO) program to improve occupational health and safety practices, and implemented a Just Transition training program for employees to adapt to electrification and artificial intelligence transformation in the automotive sector.
Corporate Governance and AI Management Strengthened
The report also included developments related to corporate governance practices.
In this context, to increase diversity on the board of directors, four women and three international members serve on the board of 12 total members, while a Lead Independent Director system has been implemented to increase transparency in decision-making processes.
The company aims to increase shareholder value through the Value-up Program covering 2025-2027, and also launched an AI Governance Framework application for the responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies.
Renewable Energy Use Increasing
According to the report, Hyundai's renewable energy usage rate in overseas operations reached 76 percent as of 2025, aided by applications such as Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
To enable sustainability performance to be followed by broader audiences, the company published a Summary Sustainability Report featuring key developments alongside the main report this year.
Hyundai aims to advance its work in energy transition, reducing carbon emissions, circular economy practices and sustainable supply chain management in the coming period.
