HEXPOL TPE Partners with Polestar 0 Project

HEXPOL TPE Joins Polestar 0 Project to Create Climate-Neutral Car by 2030 Swedish electric performance car manufacturer Polestar is accelerating its efforts to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by bringing new partners, including polymer compound supplier HEXPOL TPE, into the Polestar 0 project. The Polestar 0 project represents Polestar's goal to create its first truly climate-neutral car by 2030 without offsetting. The project will work to identify and eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions from raw material extraction through delivery of the car to the customer, as well as all emissions associated with end-of-life operations. HEXPOL TPE will support the project with its expertise and capabilities in thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and soft polymer compounds. This includes research into emerging possibilities with bio-based and recycled content. The project scope also includes supply chain mapping to identify all root emission sources and investigate zero-carbon logistics systems. The project scope is to identify and eliminate all greenhouse gas emissions from raw material extraction through delivery of the car to the customer and including end-of-life operations. Rather than using conventional processes and then planting trees to offset CO2, the Polestar 0 project aims to reduce carbon emissions by changing how cars are manufactured. This approach will encompass collaboration throughout the entire development process and value chain, from suppliers to retailers.
