Aware of increasingly significant environmental and social changes and their negative impacts, L'Oréal Group has allocated EUR 150 million to address global challenges under its "L'Oréal for the Future" program, which sets out global sustainability targets for 2030. The EUR 150 million allocated to take concrete steps for the planet we live on and the societies within it, to contribute to solving social and environmental problems, to protect the environment and to support women, will be evaluated through projects by non-governmental organizations from around the world targeting women and the environment. EUR 100 million of the global fund is earmarked for taking necessary action on significant environmental issues and restoring damaged natural marine and forest ecosystems, while EUR 50 million is allocated to support women in difficult circumstances. KAMER Foundation, an NGO from Turkey that applied to the global solidarity fund, earned the right to receive TRY 1,400,000 in grants with its comprehensive project aimed at contributing to the social and economic empowerment of disadvantaged women in the country and supporting refugee women. Through the project, more than 33,000 disadvantaged women, including refugees, were reached across 20 different provinces of Turkey during 2022. Turkish NGO KAMER Foundation, through this implemented project, provided psychological and legal advisory services to women, contributing to raising awareness among women and working to increase awareness on how to protect against violence through brochures explaining protection methods. Within the scope of the project, KAMER Foundation supported disadvantaged women in developing themselves and regaining their self-confidence through various courses promoting professional and personal development and enabling greater benefit from technology. The project, which also includes refugee women, also organized Turkish literacy training. "L'Oréal for the Future," a next-generation change model that respects limited global resources and the conditions societies face, represents L'Oréal Group's strengthened commitment to sustainability and inclusion through this solidarity fund, and invites NGOs from around the world to apply to the fund. All NGOs can apply to the fund with projects aimed at empowering women and supporting circular economy by contributing to environmental protection. Sinem Sandıkçı Gökçen, General Manager of L'Oréal Turkey, said on the subject: "As L'Oréal Group, we continue to implement our sustainability revolution and take concrete steps along this path. Because we know that the problems the world faces have reached serious proportions and we must accelerate our efforts to protect the future of humanity. We are doing this through transformation in our own business operations and our contributions to society. Our global solidarity fund is one of the best examples of this. In this context, we are pleased to announce that Turkish NGO KAMER Foundation received TRY 1,400,000 from the global fund with its project aimed at empowering disadvantaged women and including refugee women. We hope this will inspire other NGOs and that more projects from our country can receive grants." he said.
Ayten Yakut Süngü, General Manager of NGO KAMER Foundation, made the following statement on the matter:
"At KAMER, we work with a vision of a transparent and participatory society where gender equality is ensured, universal human rights are respected, peace norms are established, and a nature-friendly economy exists. We strive to contribute to a society where the number of strong women who have begun to fight violence and provide effective participation in society increases. By identifying harmful practices of culture and traditions shaped by sexist values toward women and children, we aim to develop alternatives and ensure their feasibility. This grant we received from L'Oréal Group's global fund has been tremendous support in achieving our goals. We are proud to have reached more than 33,000 women across 20 provinces in Turkey with the aim of empowering women. We will continue to work to the best of our ability to fight violence and support women."
