The project developed by Etapak Ambalaj enables the recycling of labels. Technologies for the reuse of PET bottles have been used by companies for many years worldwide. However, technologies that enable the recycling and reuse of labels on PET bottles are not widely used. Taking this into consideration, Etapak Ambalaj developed the Spiral Label Manufactured from Recycled PET Project. Through this project, labels are manufactured from recycled bottles. Etapak Ambalaj won the award at the "WorldStar 2022" competition organized by the World Packaging Organization with its "Spiral Label Manufactured from Recycled PET" project. An Extremely Important Process for Protecting Our Planet
Armağan Özgörkey, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Özgörkey Holding, provided comments on the matter. Özgörkey noted that they are among the first companies in Turkey, and among the few globally, to manufacture labels from recycled bottles. Özgörkey stated: "Recycling PET bottles, which are part of our daily lives, is an extremely important process for protecting our planet that stands on the brink of climate crisis, just like other recyclable products. However, because the labels on these bottles cannot be recycled, both separation processes are required and recycling rates decrease." he said. Noting his pride in the award they won and that it is a highly prestigious award, Özgörkey said: "As a company that conducts its operations focused on the 'Responsible Production and Consumption' objective, which is among the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we began working on this issue. We are proud that this project, which we successfully completed, has been recognized at the most prestigious international event in our sector" he stated.Advertisement
