Eksim Enerji Prevented 1.3 Million Tons of Carbon Emissions Last Year Eksim Enerji worked last year to reduce carbon emissions through environmentally friendly energy production and prevented 1.3 million tons of carbon emissions through these efforts. In a statement from the company, Eksim Enerji's entire portfolio consists of renewable energy plants focused on environment and sustainability, and the company aims to prevent 4 million tons of annual carbon emissions by the end of 2025. The statement included views from Eksim Enerji Chief Executive Officer Arkın Akbay. Akbay emphasized that accelerating renewable sources is of great importance to prevent emissions from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, and that there is significant potential in Turkey especially in hydroelectric, solar, wind, geothermal and biomass energy production. "We Believe Green Energy is the Most Important Force" Akbay stated: "Against the danger of resources running out in the very near future, renewable energy that provides maximum social and environmental contribution with the most economical financing sources must increase. At this point, as Eksim Enerji, we believe green energy is the most important force in preventing the negative effects caused by global climate change and leaving a livable world for future generations without disrupting ecological balance." They Will Implement Projects to Reduce 4 Million Tons of Annual Carbon Emissions by 2025 Akbay also shared that last year they produced approximately 2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and prevented approximately 1.3 million tons of carbon emissions, and emphasized that they will implement projects to reduce 4 million tons of annual carbon emissions by 2025 and contribute to the 2053 net zero emissions target in this scope. Akbay said: "With the YEKDEM incentive mechanism, our government opened the way for renewable energy capacity growth. We are growing the knowledge we accumulated in the plants we built during this period by investing in renewable energy resource areas. We provide electrical energy to our consumers from the most economical sources. We have rolled up our sleeves to put into operation new solar and wind power plant licenses in our portfolio. We are putting into operation our new projects with 350 million dollars investment for 6 wind power plant licenses with a total capacity of 260 megawatts." Eksim Enerji Owns 8 Wind Energy Plants with Total Installed Capacity of 464 Megawatts Eksim Enerji produced 4 percent of the electricity generated from wind energy in Turkey last year and contributed 4 percent in the first half of this year. The company has 8 wind energy plants with a total installed capacity of 464 megawatts in Turkey. The company continues to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio range with 3 plants operating with a total of 99 megawatts—1 plant with 63 megawatts in Turkey and 2 plants in Georgia—and with 162 megawatts of installed capacity.
